• Pathway and walkway lights. As the name suggests, pathway and walkway lights are used to illuminate pathways and walkways with the property. They are more functional than decorative but can achieve both purposes when installed correctly. They work well to prevent accidents and enhance vision at night. They can be placed on the edge, into the ground and even overhead.

They can also be installed on the rails; they can be installed as accent lights, or even as string lights to create an ambience. Stair lights are commonly installed into the stair to prevent glare and for a touch of uniqueness. 

• Bollard Lights. These are simply lights on a bollard. Bollards are property markers and are commonly used to form a boundary. They guide drivers as well. These types of lights add decoration to the bollards. They also work well to illuminate driveways and other paths, guiding drivers from collision with anything in the property. 

• Spotlights. Spotlights or accent lights are installed to highlight a specific feature in the pace. They are commonly used to add drama and mystery to the selected item. People use spotlights to highlight architectural features, such as walls and statues. You can also use spotlights to highlight botanical components and decorative items. 

• Floodlights. These are sizeable high-intensity lights that are often used for commercial spaces such as parking lots. They are used to illuminate large areas and is what you will commonly find during outdoor concerts at night. Floodlights can also be used to illuminate your yard if it is large. 

• Well lights. Well lights are in-ground lighting fixtures commonly used to create mystery and silhouettes. Well lights are widely used to enhance trees and bushes with minimal visibility of the light itself. They are placed in the ground and are more decorative than functional. They come in different sizes, and wattage but the fixture is the same. 

• Underwater lights. These are lighting systems that are installed aquatic bodies such as swimming pools hot tubs, fountains, and behind humanmade waterfalls. Underwater lights are very safe as they are reinforced for resistance against water and should last as long as other lights. They are a great way to illuminate and decorate water features in your yard. 

• Wall Wash lights. These are lights installed against a wall mainly for decorative purposes. The light illuminates a vertical surface with even brightness. It is used to draw attention to the wall so you can use it to accentuate a fireplace or artwork on the wall. The reflection makes the room appear brighter and is a great way to create a relaxed atmosphere. 

• Hardscape Lights. This type of lighting sees the use of existing structures to highlight the best parts of your space, including decks, patios, fountains, rock structures, gazebos, and fireplaces. It is decorative and often uses low profile lights to achieve the desires effect. They are great for creating a specific atmosphere, as well. 

• Outdoor Solar Lights. These are lighting systems that use solar cells. They convert sunlight into electricity, and so they are eco-friendly alternatives to traditional outdoor lighting systems. Electricity is stored in the battery during the day then used at night to produce light. They can be decorative and functional, depending on where you install them. 

• Flood Lights. Floodlights are huge lights that are used to illuminate more than decorate large spaces. They are commonly used in commercial outdoor areas such as parking lost to help with vision and deter criminals. You can also use floodlight to moonlight your garden. This is for decorative purposes, and the result is a light that mimics the moon. 

• In-Ground Well Light. These are light fixtures that are installed into the ground to give the appearance of an underground well. They are mostly for decorative purposes, and when installed correctly, they achieve a magical effect. In-ground well-lights are reinforced to preserve their function and outer shell. The best ones are LED because they last longer, and pose less risk to fire. 

• Pond Lights. As the name suggests, these are light fixtures that are used to illuminate and hence the beauty of an outdoor water feature, commonly a pond. When strategically placed, they enhance the beauty of the structure and create intricate patterns with the water. Pond lights are often made to be waterproof to improve their function and durability. 

• Recessed Lights. Also known as a downlight, a recessed light is a fixture installed into the hollow opening of a ceiling. They are quite popular in residential and commercial buildings. When they are installed, it looks like the light is shining from a hole in the ceiling. They are both decorative and functional and will charm up any place they are installed to. 

Surface Mounted Lights. A surface-mounted light is a light that is installed on top of a flat surface such as the flat part of a ceiling. It protrudes away from the surface. This is a very versatile type of landscape lighting. It comes in many shapes and sizes and is ideal for places with exposed ceilings.
